The two minute rule
Everyone has to deal with interruptions to their work, especially when you’re working at a computer with email constantly pinging into your in box. In his book Getting Things Done, David Allen suggests a simple rule for interruptions: if it can be done in two minutes, do it now. If not, write it down in your notebook and forget about it. Later on in the day, you can go through your notebook and actually allocate some time to all the items you’ve collected throughout the day.
